SCG, a conglomerate in the ASEAN region, recently announced that it would accelerate growth for its packaging business, a retail offshoot of its cement-building materials business which has displayed consistent growth.

Roongrote Rangsiyopash, president and CEO of SCG, said: “All SCG business units continue to apply core strategies to build healthy growth and act promptly when challenges need to be handled. The packaging business aims at becoming a total packaging solutions provider by establishing more packaging production bases in ASEAN, especially in markets with constant growth opportunities, and developing innovations and technologies to add value to products, services and production to fulfill the needs of enterprises and consumers’ consumption.”

SCG has increased its competitive edge and joined forces with international partners to expand its portfolio of products, services and integrated solutions to ASEAN, China and India markets.

SCG on Thursday announced its business results for the first quarter of this year.

In Viet Nam, SCG has VND50 trillion (US$ 2.1 million) worth of total assets, an increase of 37 per cent year-on-year, mainly from the progress of Long Son Petrochemical Company Limited (LSP).

The company reported first quarter revenue of VND6.8 trillion ($293 million) which includes sales from operations in Viet Nam and imports from its Thai operations. This represents an increase of 12 per cent year-on-year, mainly from the chemicals business.

SCG said they were focusing on forging more business partnerships. It has collaborated with CP All and Dow Thailand Group to transform plastic waste collected from offices, distribution centers and 7-Eleven stores into asphalt mixtures to improve road efficiency in convenience store areas.

In addition, SCG is advancing the adoption of digital technology to boost business efficiency.

SCG comprises three core businesses: cement-building materials, chemicals, and packaging.

Today, with a total of 23 companies across Viet Nam driven by more than 8,000 employees, SCG offers a variety of premium products and services to markets. — VNS
