HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Shares began to compensate for yesterday's losses in HCM City today but continued on their downward trend in Ha Noi.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index gained 0.12 per cent to end at 494.25 points while the VN30 tracking the 30 largest stocks in terms of capitalisation and liquidity added 0.09 per cent to close at 546.69 points.

Trading was sluggish however, with just 16.6 million shares worth VND311.26 billion (US$14.6 million) being transacted.

Of the 30 shares tracked by the VN30, 12 rallied while nine others lost ground. The number of blue chips dropping in price was relatively high compared to the number of stocks rising, while the trading value was low, a sure signal that this morning's gains are vunerable.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index closed at 61.88 points, a slight drop of 0.02.

The trading value and volume reached VND71.2 billion ($3.3 million) and 7.3 million shares, respectively. — VNS
