Shares climb but trading is dry

HA NOI (Biz Hub)- Stocks extended the uptrend this morning on the two national bourses this morning, but trading showed no sign of improvement.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index gained another 0.49 per cent to stand at 494.82 points, but only 14 million shares worth over VND297 billion (US$14.1 million) changed hands by the end of the morning.

Rises of blue chips continued to support the market. The VN30 measuring the top 30 shares by market capitalisation and liquidity increased 0.48 per cent to 546.17 points.

A member of the VN30, Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corp (REE), was the only share having trades of more than one million. REE was the most active code this morning with 1.85 million shares exchanged at VND25,900 ($1.23) a share.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index was up 0.41 per cent at 61.48 points despite gloomy market condition.

The shares that fell outnumbered the gainers by 52-45 while up to 284 codes closed flat.

Just 5.4 million shares worth VND43 billion ($2 million) changed hands this morning.

PetroVietnam Construction (PVX) is temporarily leading trades here with over 880,000 shares at the value of VND4,600 each.
