Shares end higher for Asia, except Japan

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Japanese shares bucked the trend to end lower on Friday. The Nikkei 225 (NKY) declined 39.05 to close at 14,760.07 and the Topix Index (TPX) also lost 2.97 to finish at 1,217.52.

On the gaining side, both bourses in Viet Nam reported higher scores. The VN Index added 1.15 points to finish the HCM City session at 486.61, while the Ha Noi Stock Exchange Index gained 0.08 points to end at 60.38.

In China the benchmark Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index (SHCOMP) added 4.22 points to close at 2,155.81, while the Hang Seng Index (HSI) in Hong Kong declined 82.01 points to close at 23,207.04. The Straits Times Index (STI) climbed 13.58 points to finish at 3,207.9.— VNS
