Shares down in Ha Noi, up in HCM City

HA NOI (Biz Hub)— On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index slipped 0.25 per cent to 62.17 points on a total turnover of nearly VND88 billion (US$4.1 million).

Losers overwhelmed gainers by 101-61.

The HNX30, representing the top 30 stocks in terms of capitalisation and liquidity, dropped 0.4 per cent to reach 115.39 points.

PetroVietnam Construction Co (PVX), which is tracked by the VN30, made up a large proportion of the losses on Ha Noi market after shares fell 4.5 per cent to just VND4,200. The company reported a loss of VND374.7 billion ($17.6 million) in the second quarter. However, it still made a slight profit of VND9 billion ($424,500) in the first three months.

Meanwhile, shares continued to rise in HCM City, with the VN-Index advancing 0.76 per cent to 500.35 points.Gainers outnumbered losers by 92-67.

Trading value on the HCM City Stock Exchange reached VND438.7 billion ($20.6 million) and more than 20.6 million shares were traded.

The VN30, tracking the southern bourse's 30 leading shares, also rebounded by 0.6 per cent to 552.78 points, thanks to the gains of half of the blue chips. - VNS
