Hang Seng Index makes strong gains

HA NOI (Biz Hub)— The Hang Seng Index (HSI) began the week with a bang on Monday, jumping 627.91 points to reach 23,660.06 in Hong Kong.

But it was a different story in Tokyo, where the Nikkei 225 suffered sluggish trading to slip 1.62 points to 15,164.30. Fellow Japanese market the Topix Index (TPX) fared slightly better, edging up 2.63 points to finish the week at 1,241.67.

The benchmark Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index (SHCOMP) also added 61.39 points to close at 2,197.22 in China, while the Straits Times Index (STI) rose 2.01 points to 3,203.3

In local markets, the VN Index jumped 5.14 points to end at 506.48 in HCM City, as Ha Noi's HNX Index crept up 0.46 points to reach 64.39.— VNS
