Hong Kong leads plummet in Asian shares

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Asian markets experienced a rapid tailspin on Wednesday, with the Hang Seng Index (HSI) slumping a massive 437.58 points to 22,463.83.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 slipped 21.52 points to 141.64, while the Topix Index (TPX) shed 1.22 points to end at 1,204.19.

In China, the benchmark Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index (SHCOMP), fell 38.83 points stabilising at 2,087.94, while the Straits Times Index (STI) dropped 13.51 points to finish at 3,166.7 in Singapore.

The regional slump had minor spillovers to the local market. The VN Index fell 1.53 points to 496.12 in HCM City, while the HNX Index lost 0.20 points to end at 63.65.— VNS
