HA NOI(Biz Hub) —The State Treasury sold only VND1.050 trillion (US$50 million) of the total VND5 trillion (nearly $239 million) worth of bonds offered at auction last week.
The treasury put up VND2 trillion ($95.2million) of two-year bonds, VND2 trillion ($95.2million) of three-year bonds and VND1 trillion ($47.6million) of five-year bonds on July 5.
After 19 bidders registered seeking yields of between 6.8-7.8 per cent for two-year bonds, the treasury finally sold more than half of these at a yield of 6.85 per cent. There were also bidders for three and five-year notes, however the treasury failed to issue any of these due to higher yield expectations.
According to the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the treasury had already mobilised VND94.838 trillion ($451.6million) from bond auctions since early this year.
Meanwhile Vietcombank Securities, which leads the country's bonds trading market with 31 per cent of total volume, said foreign investors sold a net VND5.7 trillion ($268 million) worth of bonds in June and continued selling into July. — VNS
