Shares maintain downward trend

HA NOI (Biz Hub)– Shares continued to slide on both stock exchanges during this morning's session.

On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the benchmark VN-Index lost 0.3 of a per cent to reach 484.14 points. Losers outnumbered gainers by 101-49.

Trading was sparse, with only 18.4 million shares worth VND303.45 billion (US$14.3 million) changing hands.

The VN30, representing the performance of the southern bourse's 30 largest stocks, also slid back by 0.34 of a per cent to 541.51 points.

Only insurer Bao Viet Holdings (BVH), HCM City Infrastructure Investment (CII), Vietinbank (CTG) and Vinamilk (VNM) added between 0.2-0.7 per cent. Meanwhile, 20 others dropped..

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell slightly, by 0.3 per cent to close the morning session at 62.49 points on a total turnover of VND117.1 billion ($5.5 million).

Only 33 shares, or 8 per cent of the bourse's listed codes, managed to rally.

The HNX30, tracking the northern city's top shares, fell 0.2 per cent to 116.6 points. – VNS
