Shares decrease on waning liquidity

HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Despite opening high, shares tended to decrease towards the end of this morning on the HCM City Stock Exchange. The benchmark VN-Index retreated to 487.58 points before reaching about 490 points.

The market condition was negative as gainers outnumbered losers by 90-68 and another other 148 did not move.

Slight increases in several blue chips - such as VinGroup (VIC), Vietcombank (VCB), Hoa Phat Group and Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corp (REE) - supported the market.

The VN30 tracking the top 30 shares on the bourse was up 0.04 per cent at 543.90 points.

Liquidity continued to decline as just 25.4 million shares worth VND399.3 billion (US$19 million) changed hands.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index fell 0.68 per cent to 62.64 points on a modest turnover of nearly VND131.4 billion ($6.3 million).

This morning, the exchange announced shares in construction Song Da - Thang Long Co (STL) would be delisted from the northern bourse from July 26 because the company recorded negative equity of nearly VND24 billion ($1.14 million).

STL is being traded at the floor price of VND3,100 a share. - VNS
