Cat Tuong Agricultural Products Producing & Processing Co., Ltd. in southern Tien Giang Province earned VND2.4 trillion (US$105.5 million) in revenue in this year’s first five months, doubling last year’s figure.
The My Tho City-based company is the largest exporter of dragon fruit in the province.
Cat Tuong exported some 100,000 tonnes of dragon fruit in the first five months, twice the quantity over the same period last year.
According to Doan Van Sang, the director of Cat Tuong, to expand production and promote consumption and export of agricultural products, enterprises had to focus on a specific business plan to ensure sustainable output for dragon fruit, a specialty with competitive advantages of Tien Giang Province, in the export market.
Dragon fruit produced by Cat Tuong is packed under the trademark "Dragon Fruit of Cat Tuong Tien Giang," before being directly exported to China, Thailand and Singapore.
This is also the first enterprise in the province to pack dragon fruit with its own brand name and export it overseas.
At present, Cat Tuong companies have more than 20 direct selling points of dragon fruit in major cities of China, including capital Beijing.
To ensure effective production and to dominate the market and deal with farm produce output, Cat Tuong has invested hundreds of billions of dong in facilities, workshops, machinery and equipment for preliminary processing and packing with strict technical procedures as required by partners and customers.
Besides dragon fruit, the company will continue to study the market to buy and export other specialty fruits of the province, including Lo Ren breast milk fruit and Hoa Loc mango. — VNS
