Smart Electricity Network of Viet Nam, a start-up company set up under HCM City’s Semiconductor/IC Industry Development Programme, was launched late last week.

SENVI will initially focus on producing and distributing two products: data collector modems and data concentrator units in smart meter system.

The latter is capable of managing and collecting data from smart meters via various communication standards such as 408,925 MHz RF, ZigBee (2.4 GHz) and PLC. It also communicates and exchanges the information with the HES system software over 2G/3G mobile network or Ethernet network.

The data collector modem (DCM) is used in remote data collection applications, with data being collected through RS232/RS485 interfaces and transmitted via GPRS/ 3G/Ethernet. — VNS
