The Agriculture and Rural Development Bank of Viet Nam (Agribank) and Japan’s Yanmar Group, a leading Japanese firm in agricultural machinery, agreed to join hands in helping millions of Vietnamese farmers access modern agricultural machine and equipment.

Under the co-operation agreement signed on Thursday, Agribank will help agents of Yanmar Viet Nam to open accounts and borrow capital and supply services such as guarantee payment for agents to import Yanmar’s machines and payment of salary for staff.

Agribank will also help Yanmar’s customers access credit to buy Yanmar’s products from the agents with preferential interest rates and fees.

The two sides plan to build a financial support programme for customers who are co-operatives and households who want Yanmar’s machines, as long as they meet requirements of Agribank and Vietnamese law.

The deal allows Agribank and Yanmar to contribute to developing clean agriculture, promoting large-scale production and applying hi-tech in farming. — VNS
