A co-operation agreement was signed between the CVI Pharmaceutical and Cosmetics Company and the Frutarom Switzerland at a ceremony on December 13 in Ha Noi.
Under the framework of the agreement, CVI will be the sole Vietnamese partner to receive Broccoraphanin from Frutarom Switzerland, a material to produce detoxification, cancer prevention and food products.
BroccoRaphanin is an antioxidant made from a broccoli seed extract to help support immune system health. It is a long-lasting indirect antioxidant supplement intended to help provide immune system support and protection against free radicals.
“The agreement would be an important milestone in medical and pharmaceutical co-operation between Viet Nam and Switzerland, opening more opportunities for patients with cancers and chronicle diseases in the country,” said Chairman of CVI Board of Directors Phan Van Hieu.
Hieu said that BroccoRaphanin has applied to produce detoxification, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial products in more than 20 countries worldwide, including Viet Nam.
Former director of the Cancer (K) Hospital Nguyen Ba Duc said that measures for preventing and early screening cancers are necessary and should be put forward as soon as possible in efforts to minimise cancer rate and fatality in Viet Nam in coming years.
Duc said that Viet Nam reported 150,000 new cancer cases and nearly 80,000 people were killed by the fatal disease yearly. The situation caused by unsafe foods, tobacco, hereditary and others. The number of cancer cases would increase to about 200,000 by 2020. — VNS
