According to The Ministry of Industry and Trade, the typhoon has caused significant damage and may impact the domestic market.

Therefore, the Ministry emphasised the need to strengthen supervision, inspection and control of the market.

Strict measures are essential to prevent hoarding and unreasonable price hikes, particularly for essential goods such as food, necessities, and supplies needed by citizens and businesses in the aftermath of the storm. The Ministry has directed relevant agencies to closely monitor market developments, compile timely reports, and keep the Ministry informed of any fluctuations in essential goods required for production, business, and daily life, especially those directly directed by Typhoon Yagi.

In cases of violations, authorities must take swift action and publicly disclose the identities of organisations or individuals who exploit market conditions in supply and demand imbalances caused by storms to make illegal profits.

Typhoon Yagi, the most powerful storm in the East Sea in the past 30 years, ripped through northern Việt Nam on Saturday, leaving behind a trail of destruction.

According to the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control (under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), as of 6pm on September 8, Typhoon Yagi (Typhoon No.3) had caused 21 deaths.
