HA NOI (Biz Hub) —The Nikkei 225 rose 307.08 points to end at 16,121.45, while the Topix Index added 22.98 points to end at 1,306.23 in Tokyo on January 8.
Other gainers were Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index, which rose 283.81 points to end at 22,996.59, Singapore's Straits Times Index, which added 29.77 points to end at 3,150.7, and Vietnam's two bourses. The VN Index rose 3.78 points to close at 513.90 in HCM City, while the HNX Index added 0.52 points to end at 69.99 in the capital city.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite Index stayed flat, slipping 2.98 points to finish at 2,044.34.— VNS
