HA NOI (Biz Hub) — The Nikkei 225 slumped 2.4 per cent or 382.43 points to 15,908.88 on its first trading day in 2014, on January 6, leading others to drop in the Asian market.
Also among the losers, the Topix Index dropped 10.14 points to end at 1,292.15 in Tokyo.
The Hang Seng Index lost 133.13 points to end at 22,684.15 in Hong Kong, while on the Chinese mainland, the Shanghai Composite Index declined 37.43 points to finish at 2,045.71. The Straits Times Index also slipped 8.54 points to end at 3,122.9 in Singapore.
On the gaining side, two bourses in Vietnam ended higher. The VN Index added 3.57 points to hit 508.94, while the HNX Index added 0.82 points to end at 68.78 in the capital city.— VNS
