HA NOI (Biz Hub) —Asian markets declined on Friday, January 3, with the Hang Seng Index losing 522.77 points to reach 23,340.05 in Hong Kong.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite Index also declined 26.25 points to finish at 2,083.14, while the Straits Times Index lost 43.21 points to end at 3,131.4 in Singapore.
The two bourses in Vietnam, however, ended a bit higher. The VN Index added 0.86 points to 505.37, and the HNX Index added 0.04 points to end at 67.97 in the capital city.
Still on holiday, the Nikkei 225 maintained its best annual performance in over four decades at 16,291.31 in Tokyo.— VNS
