Vietjet co-operates with VNPAY to adopt QR code payments

Vietjet has co-operated with Viet Nam Payment Solution Joint Stock Company (VNPAY) – the biggest QR code payment firm in Viet Nam – to apply QR code technology for online ticket bookings.

With the deal, Vietjet’s passengers can make payments for tickets using the online ticket booking service at http://www.vietjetair.com.

After successfully booking their tickets, customers will be able to use the QR code to pay without entering card and bank account information. The payment takes only few seconds.

Payment via QR code has become a new trend, which has been widely applied by banks and big companies to offer a quick, easy and safe payment option to customers.

The biggest advantage of QR Pay was that the payment would be implemented without cash or bank cards. Customers could buy Vietjet tickets anywhere and any time using their mobile phones. Customers could avoid the risk of leaking information as they don’t need to provide their bank account information.

The QR Pay system will help customers save time while ensuring safety.

“With the development of new flights and the number of aircraft, Vietjet has developed additional payment methods that are more technological and convenient to meet the rapidly changing demands of modern customers,” said Nguyen Bac Toan, the airline’s deputy director of Commercial Department.

According to International Air Transport Association (IATA), Viet Nam will be among the five countries with the most rapid growth of passenger travelling by airways in the world, together with China, the US, Indonesia and India.

IATA expected that the average growth rate of Viet Nam’s aviation sector will be 14 per cent in the next five years, reaching 150 million passengers by 2035.

Local airlines have been continuously improving their services to fully exploit the market’s potential. Applying technologies to improve services in the Fourth Industrial Revolution has been a vital development for all sectors including aviation. Vietjet has also caught up with the trend.

Beside fostering technological appliance to better facilitate passengers, Vietjet has also focused on participating in charity works over the past few years.

On Wednesday a special Vietjet flight transported seven tonnes of relief aid for the victims of the double disaster earthquake-tsunami to Jakarta, Indonesia.

In just three days, Vietjet’s leaders and employees quickly organised the flight, made technical preparations, completed the application for a flight permit and launched the voluntary donation movement among employees of Vietjet and members of the group, which helped the special flight take off, the airline has said.

In 2013, when super typhoon Haiyan destroyed cities in Philippines, Vietjet also operated two flights transporting relief aid and taking Vietnamese victims home safely. The airline also conducted many flights to rescue the central region of Viet Nam after the floods while offering poor workers free flights so that they could come home to celebrate the Tet holidays.

"Volunteering and charity works have become a part of Vietjet employees’ life, to share love and affection with people in difficult, disadvantaged circumstances, especially in the disasters," the carrier said in a statement. — VNS
