Global electronics manufacturing services company Jabil Circuit, Inc. held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility at the Saigon Hi-Tech Park in HCM City on Friday.
Jabil Vietnam has expanded its operations to cover 38,400 square metres of building space at the industrial park with this project.
Scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017, the new facility will provide additional storage space and accommodate future high-volume production in computing, storage, networking and telecommunications sectors, as well as in automotive, digital home, mobility and point of sale sectors. It will also cater to the printing, industrial and energy sectors.
“Since we began operations in Viet Nam 10 years ago, we have been on a consistent growth trajectory. We are currently operating at a maximum capacity, and this expansion is central to our growth strategy. Besides positioning us well for future growth, this expansion also reflects our continued commitment to develop and invest in Viet Nam,” said Vijay Chinnasami, senior vice president of electronic manufacturing services operations at Jabil.
Jabil Vietnam employs about 4,500 employees and aims to create more than 3,000 jobs in the local area over the next five years.
