Sacombank has linked up with Garmin Pay, the contactless payment platform that enables users to make payment using their Garmin smartwatches.
Customers need to add a Sacombank Visa payment card or credit card to their smartwatch through the Garmin Connect app, fill in the card information along with passcode and conduct transactions swiftly, safely and securely.
The payment solution is compatible with Android and iOS devices and uses contactless payment technology so users can make payments through all machines with the near field communication feature.
Nguyễn Minh Tâm, deputy CEO of Sacombank, said: "We always strive to pioneer in bringing simple, seamless payment experiences, helping customers spend and manage expenses easily and smartly.
“Garmin Pay is another step in expanding Sacombank's cashless payment ecosystem. We believe that Garmin Pay will be preferred by many customers, especially young, dynamic and sport-savvy ones."
Scoppen Lin, assistant general manager of Garmin Asia, expressed excitement about the collaboration that aligns with his company’s commitment to promoting the popularity of Garmin Pay in the Vietnamese market.
Garmin Pay makes payments independently on the watch and does not store bank card numbers on the device to ensure the highest security.
After entering the passcode, users can freely pay for all services from dining, shopping, entertainment, and education to transportation without having to re-enter the passcode for 24 hours while still wearing the watch.
If users remove the watch from their wrist or turn off the heart rate monitor, the passcode will have to be re-entered to make payment.
Sacombank is offering many incentives at launch: The first 1,000 customers who add a Sacombank Visa card and make transactions worth at least VNĐ200,000 on Garmin Pay will receive a refund of VNĐ100,000 and an additional refund of VNĐ200,000 when they make five transactions worth VNĐ2 million.
It also offers a refund of VNĐ500,000 to customers buying Garmin watches worth VNĐ10 million or more and making payments using Sacombank Visa cards.
