Vietnam Airlines (VNA) has signed an extension of the cooperation agreement for Full-Flight Simulators (FFS) with the global training provider, CAE.

The signing ceremony is within the framework of the working program in Vietnam of Mary Ng- Canada’s Minister of Export Promotion, International trade and Economic development.

Under the agreement, both parties will extend the cooperation period under the Cooperation Agreement for operating Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 FFSs until the end of 2033. This partnership will leverage the airline’s capability in flight simulators training in Việt Nam and helps to enhance flexibility, proactiveness and significantly saves time. This is vital to the airline as it can cut costs while still remaining efficient in the recovery and development stage.

In 2017-2018, VNA started training on three modern Full-Flight Simulators from CAE which meet the technical specifications of aircraft types operated by VNA including Airbus A321, Airbus A350 and Boeing 787. This partnership expands the airline’s competency-based flight-training capacity at the Flight Training Center with existing infrastructure and skilled instructors. VNA successfully organised various types of pilot training, such as recurrent training, upgrade training and type rating.

Furthermore, the adoption of advanced technology in the fields of operation and maintenance of Full-Flight Simulators on large aircraft such as Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 has enabled the national carrier to embrace cutting-edge technology and establish a leading pilot training center in Việt Nam that delivers a unique and effective training experience. From there, the airline can proactively manage pilot resources to support sustainable and stable development. — VNS
