At the 'Green Economy Forum and Exhibition (GEFE) 2024', co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and EuroCham from September 21-23, Nestlé Vietnam showcased the NESCAFÉ Plan, an initiative aimed at fostering a regenerative food system, enhancing farmers' livelihoods and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
During the 'Sustainable Food and Agriculture' discussion, Nestlé Vietnam's General Director, Binu Jacob said: “The NESCAFÉ Plan programme is a global initiative of Nestlé Group to bring sustainable values to coffee farmers, to the community and to the planet.
"In more than 13 years of implementation in Việt Nam, the programme has achieved many positive results thanks to promoting multi-stakeholder co-operation and always considering farmers as the centre. With an effort to guide farmers to switch to regenerative farming methods, the programme not only helps improve the livelihoods of coffee farming communities but also creates positive impacts on the environment and protects biodiversity.”
Nestlé also presented its efforts to elevate the value of Vietnamese coffee beans. The Nestlé Trị An factory, a state-of-the-art facility, processes various coffee products that are popular in Việt Nam and exported to over 30 countries, including the US and European countries.
Visitors to GEFE 2024 can explore the NESCAFÉ Plan farm and the Nestlé Trị An factory through virtual reality (VR) 360 technology, experiencing sustainable coffee farming and production processes first-hand.
As a leading participant in GEFE 2024, Nestlé Vietnam, in its role as Vice Chairman of the Green Growth Subcommittee, facilitated discussions on circular economy practices, including extended producer responsibility and sustainable design.
The forum aims to promote sustainable development policies and initiatives aligned with Việt Nam’s National Strategy on Green Growth for 2021-30, attracting businesses and organisations committed to a greener future. — VNS
