Central Retail Vietnam and Tona Syntegra Solar have signed an agreement to implement solutions in Central Retail's mall network, aiming to reduce energy consumption and increase the use of renewable energy sources.

Tona Syntegra Solar will provide and install rooftop solar power systems, solar carports, energy storage systems (as needed), energy efficiency solutions, and electric forklifts and trucks to support the retailer's net zero goals.

A rooftop solar power system at the go! Nhơn Trạch supermarket in Đồng Nai Province, a member of Central Retail Vietnam, is now fully operational and generating over 551MWh of renewable energy annually, helping the store reduce CO2 emissions by 373 tonnes per year.

Looking ahead, Central plans to expand this initiative by installing solar panels across its entire network of malls. This ambitious project aligns with the company's commitment to achieving net zero emissions.

Olivier Langlet, Group CEO of Central Retail Vietnam, said: "Central Retail Vietnam is dedicated to pioneering sustainable development and becoming a green and sustainable retailer. Our collaboration with TSS will accelerate our net zero ambitions. Together, we will develop and implement innovative energy solutions that improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. This partnership lays the groundwork for future projects, including the installation of EV charging stations and electric trucks for our logistics operations, contributing to a greener supply chain across our business."

A representative from TSS stated that: "As climate change intensifies, transitioning to renewable energy is imperative. Together, we will invest in and develop rooftop solar systems, solar carports, energy storage systems, and energy-efficient transportation solutions, such as electric forklifts and trucks, for Central Retail Vietnam's malls. These solutions will not only reduce carbon emissions but also optimise operational costs, providing long-term benefits for both parties. We believe this collaboration is a crucial step toward Central Retail Vietnam's Net Zero vision and demonstrates our commitment to building a sustainable future." — VNS
