Pernod Ricard has recently unveiled its four pillars for constructing a sustainability and responsibility (S&R) roadmap, aimed at reinforcing corporate values and contributing to a sustainable future for the nation.
Olivier Fages, managing director of Pernod Ricard Vietnam and Cambodia, emphasised that the roadmap revolves around four core pillars: nurturing terroir, valuing people, circular making, and responsible hosting.
Each pillar has specific sustainability objectives in line with Pernod Ricard’s overarching mission of “Good Times from a Good Place”.
Fages highlighted that this strategic framework is not merely about adhering to global sustainability standards but adapting these principles to the distinct contexts of Viet Nam and Cambodia.
The nurturing terroir pillar focuses on preserving and regenerating natural resources, ensuring that the company’s products are sourced responsibly. This is particularly important in Việt Nam, where agricultural practices can have a significant impact on the environment.
By investing in sustainable agriculture and supporting local farmers, the company helps preserve the biodiversity of the regions where it operates. The company collaborates with local communities to implement sustainable farming practices that not only protect the environment but also enhance the livelihoods of farmers.
At the heart of the company’s S&R roadmap is a commitment to valuing its people. The company invests in their professional growth and well-being. This is done through comprehensive training programmes that not only enhance their skills but also instill a sense of responsibility toward sustainability, he said.
Circular making is another critical aspect of company’s sustainability efforts. By adopting a circular economy model, the company aims to minimise waste and maximise the efficient use of resources. One of the most impactful initiatives under this pillar is Pernod Ricard’s commitment to glass recycling. — VNS
