Jewellery company PNJ’s profit triples

Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company reported a pre-tax profit of VND600 billion (US$26.55 million) last year, a 204 per cent rise year-on-year and 32 per cent higher than the target.

Revenues were up by 12 per cent at VND8.72 trillion ($385.8 million), as jewellery retail sales rose by 29 per cent.

PNJ opened 31 new stores last year, taking the total number to 220 in 40 provinces and cities and affirming its leading position in the jewellery market.

The company said constant investment in new technologies and equipment, training for its artisans, effective financial management and professional marketing were the key factors that helped it surpass its targets.

The company won many honours last year, including recognition as a National Brand, one of the Top 100 best working environments in Viet Nam, one of the Top 100 most sustainable companies in Việt Nam, one of the Top 50 Vietnamese Listed Companies, one of the Top 50 Most Valuable Vietnamese Brands.

Its chairwoman and general director, Cao Thi Ngoc Dung, made it to Forbes Asia’s list of Asia’s 50 Power Businesswomen. — VNS
