"Viet Nam is one of HEINEKEN’s top two markets globally,” Frans Eusman, president of HEINEKEN Asia Pacific, told a press conference held in HCM City on December 8 to celebrate the company’s 25th anniversary of doing business in Viet Nam.
By leveraging HEINEKEN’s global expertise, strong track record of turning local brands into regional and global sensations and access to capital, along with the Saigon Trading Group’s local market insight and access to local resources, HEINEKEN Vietnam Brewery has delivered tremendous results over the years, he said.
Leo Evers, managing director of HEINEKEN Vietnam Brewery, said the company has placed emphasis on harmonising its benefits with the development of the community and society and environmental protection.
It was recently ranked the third most sustainable business in Viet Nam and was the first brewery in the country to publish a comprehensive sustainability report.
The company also spends VND10 billion (US$439,560) a year on community projects in Viet Nam, he said.
“We have been promoting water awareness and providing clean water in Viet Nam for many years now under our long-standing water programme, ‘one minute less for one million smiles’.”
This programme has built 10 water pumping stations around the country, resulting in more than a million commitments to conserve water, and delivered thousands of litres of clean water to water-stressed parts of Viet Nam, he said.
“Today, we go further by committing VND10 billion to build three new pumping stations, one in each of Tien Giang, Quang Nam and Vung Tau, and installing two sets of water filtering bikes along the rivers in HCM City and Da Nang.”
The company has also pledged to further reduce water consumption, CO2 emissions, promote responsible consumption and support the communities in which it operates.
