HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Saigon Co.op has tied up with 600 suppliers and spent VND200 billion (US$8.96 million) on its "Proud of Vietnamese Goods 2016" promotion programme at its Co.opmart and Co.opXtra outlets, which offers discounts on thousands of local products between August 27 to September 18.
The programme will consist of six separate promotions that offer discounts of up to 50 per cent on thousands of products besides hundreds of thousands of discount coupons, allow customers to accumulate many times more bonus points than normal days, and have a "special prices" programme on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
On August 27 and 28, under the "Buy Vietnamese products, receive dual preferential treatment" programme, Co.opmart and Co.opXtra will gift a total of more than 280,000 discount coupons worth VND30,000 each to customers who have a Co.opmart card and buy for VND500,000 ($22.4) or more.
They will also gift vouchers to customers for their next visit.

Under the "special prices" programme, on September 2, a pack of six Olong Tea Plus bottles will cost only VND2,000 as well two cans of Ngoi Sao Phuong Nam condensed milk. A one-litre bottle of Tuong An cooking oil will be priced VND8,000.
On September 3, two 2.25-litre bottles of Coca Cola will be sold at VND5,000, two one-litre cartons Nuti fresh milk at VND2,000 dong, a pack of 5 kilo Cho Dao fragrant rice at VND59,900.
On September 4, a five-litre bottle of Happi Koki cooking oil will be sold at VND89,000, a 600ml bottle of Liên Thành anchovy fish sauce at VND15,000 and 10 packs of Gau Do instant noodles at VND2,000. Customers buying for at least VND400,000 can buy at these prices. More information about the promotions is available at Co.opmart and Co.opXtra supermarkets.
A budget of VND200 billion for three weeks means the supermarket will spend nearly VND10 billion ($448,430) a day on average on the promotions. — VNS
