HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Vietnamese users spend about 2.5 hours daily on the world's largest social networking website Facebook, which is nearly twice as much time spent watching television and on other media activities.

These are some of the findings of a study, released on June 16, on the use of Facebook in Viet Nam. It was carried out by TNS research company in February 2015 and commissioned by Facebook.

As of the end of January, there were 30 million Vietnamese people using Facebook monthly, with 27 million active users accessing the site on mobile devices. The statistics show that the number of daily users of Facebook has increased by 43 per cent, compared with the same period last year. The number of people accessing Facebook on mobile devices has jumped 55 per cent year-on-year.

Facebook is mainly used for chatting with friends or looking up a brand in Viet Nam, mostly in fashion, skincare and electronics. Three in four Vietnamese people on Facebook are aged between 18 and 34.
