Vietnamese shares gain value

HA NOI (Biz Hub)– Shares gained value on both exchanges this morning. On the HCM City Stock Exchange, the VN-Index rose 1.1 per cent to 489.90 points.

The VN30, tracking the top 30 shares led by market capitalisation and liquidity, also added more than 1 per cent to stand at 545.26 points.

Blue chips performed well, with more than 20 of the 30 shares advancing. Steelmaker Hoa Sen Group (HSG) had the highest rise of VND2,300 per share. Property developer Vingroup (VIC) increased by VND1,000 and PetroVietnam Drilling Services (PVD) added VND1,500.

Only commercial baker Kinh Do (KDC) and Phu Nhuan Jewelry (PNJ) declined slightly.

The total value and volume of trades reached almost VND595 billion (US$28 million) and 27.3 million shares, respectively.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index gained 0.3 per cent to 62.54 points.

Compared to yesterday morning's session, trading value increased to VND111 billion ($5.2 million) as nearly 14 million shares changed hands.

The HNX30, composed of the bourse's 30 largest stocks, rose higher at 0.77 per cent to reach 117.53 points. - VNS
