Vietcombank to host ABA meeting

HA NOI (Bizbub) — The Bank for Foreign Trade of Viet Nam (Vietcombank) will host the 33rd annual meeting of the Asian Bankers Association (ABA) from May 10 to 12, 2016, in Viet Nam.

The decision was announced at the 32nd ABA annual meeting held on November 12 and 13 in Taipei.

"Viet Nam is a peaceful and friendly country. We welcome all delegates from ABA's member banks and all ABA guests from abroad to Ha Long Bay, recognised as one of the natural wonders of the world," Nghiem Xuan Thanh, chairman of Vietcombank and ABA vice–chairman, said.

An important member of the ABA, Vietcombank continues to affirm its reputation and brand value, and aims to become the number one bank in Viet Nam and to figure among the 300 largest financial groups in the region by 2020.

The 32nd ABA meeting, held under the theme "Asian banks – Growing Beyond Borders," discussed a range of related issues and shared experiences and lessons.

Asian banks got opportunities to utilise their inner strengths and successes in domestic markets to grow beyond borders, and expand into regional and global markets.

The meeting brought together leading global experts in the fields of finance, banking, strategic planning and policy.

The experts shared views on trends and development strategies of banks to define market demand and customer demand, especially in the context that every bank is willing to change and improve business efficiency and service quality by using innovative technologies. — VNS
