A delegation from Myanmar’s Yangon Region Parliament on Thursday visited the factory of Vinsmart, a member of the property and retail conglomerate Vingroup.

The Vinsmart factory in Hoa Lac has an initial construction area of 21,500sq.m in the first phase, including two floors.

The first floor is the area for manufacturing mobile phones with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production lines, testing circuit boards and the finished phone assembly line. The second floor of the factory is for producing smart TVs and air conditioners.

Based on a production line transferred from Hai Phong, the first phase of factory is operating with a capacity of five million products per year. By September 2019, it will reach a capacity of 23 million products per year.

Previously, Vingroup broke ground on another factory in Hoa Lac, so the total capacity will reach 125 million products per year.

The Vinsmart factory is designed to strictly comply with international standards for electronics and telecommunications equipment manufacturing factories such as IPC-A-610 and TL 9000.

The Myanmar delegation was impressed with the production environment which is completely controlled on temperature, humidity, electrostatic discharge control and air cleanliness to ensure the highest quality for the products.

The equipment and machinery apply advanced technologies from around the world such as SMT components solder paste line and automated circuit testing line using technology from the US, Germany and Japan.

As of August 2019, Vinsmart has officially introduced to the market five smartphone products including Joy1, Joy1 +, Active, Active1 + and Live.

The second generation of Vsmart phone products reached consumers on August 8-9, 2019. These phone models will be sold in Myanmar as well.

Myanmar is the first Asian market in which Vinsmart will officially distribute products.

From May 2019, Vinsmart products have been distributed through nearly 1,500 stores of Myanmar's leading multi-industry consumer and retail electronics retailer, Strong Source.

Via Strong Source, Vinsmart also co-operates with two major retailers (direct and online distribution) in Myanmar, Mytel (Viettel) and Shop.com.mm (Alibaba).

“You have the most modern lines, very strict production processes and a team of professional engineers. Vietnamese people can be proud of a factory with this international standard,” said U Tin Maung Tun, chairman of Yangon Region Parliament at the visit. — VNS
