Tran Nhat Minh, from the Vietnam International Bank (VIB) has become the first Vietnamese national to be named among the top 50 senior technology executives or CIO50 in ASEAN.
The second CIO50 in ASEAN was run by IDG this year to recognise the top 50 senior technology executives driving innovation, strengthening resiliency and influencing rapid change.
According to the CIO50 website, Minh, deputy CEO cum Head of Banking Technology Services of VIB, has pioneered the creation of MyVIB, the bank's first mobile application with 87 per cent of retail banking transactions now completed via mobile compared to in-branch activities.
CIO50 was judged on three core pillars of innovation, leadership and resiliency, honouring transformational, inspiring and enduring CIOs at both in-country and regional levels within Southeast Asia.
Before VIB, Minh, who graduated from Moscow University of Energy and obtained a Doctorate of Science and Technology from Moscow University of Telecommunications and Informatics and a master's in business administration from the International Institute of Management LINK, Russia, has held many roles such as Deputy CEO and CEO at different companies in Russia. — VNS
