The Ho Chi Minh City Development Commercial Joint Stock Bank (HOSE: HDB) has been named among the Top 10 Large Cap Companies with Outstanding Annual Reports at the 2020 Viet Nam Listed Companies Awards organised by the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, Hanoi Stock Exchange and Investment Review newspaper.
Over 700 companies listed on the two exchanges and part of the VNX AllShare Index basket took part in the contest.
They were divided into various tiers based on market cap and competed in three categories: outstanding annual report, corporate governance and sustainability reporting.
With a market capitalisation of over VND30 trillion (US$1.3 billion), HDBank was in the group of large cap companies along with some other major brands such as Vimamilk, Bao Viet, Vingroup, SSI, Vicostone, Novaland, Vietinbank, and SHB.
HDBank is the only lender to be honoured for its outstanding annual report for two consecutive years in less than the three years its shares have been listed.
In the preliminary round, HOSE and HNX graded companies, and the Big Four accounting firms, KPMG, E&Y, Deloitte, and PwC, reviewed and cross-checked the results to ensure accuracy, objectivity and professionalism.
In the final round, a voting council comprising experts from the State Securities Commission, HOSE, HNX, Vietnam Securities Depository, International Financial Organization, and Securities Investment newspaper and independent experts chose 30 best annual reports in the three groups by market cap (large, medium and small).
With its theme ‘Happy Digital Banking’ this year, HDBank's annual report impressed with its scientific and thorough presentation of the bank’s corporate structure, operations and strategies for becoming a Happy Digital Bank.
HDBank is also one of the pioneers in applying the most advanced regional and global reporting standards such as ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard, GRI Global Standard in Sustainability Reporting in its information disclosure, evaluating the performance of the board of directors, the supervisory board, the board of management, and the sustainable development programmes, and meeting the rigorous criteria set for the awards after 12 editions of them.
By implementing a series of programmes to support customers to overcome Covid-19 such as preferential interest rate support packages and credit expansion, and achieving effective business performance, HDBank has won many prestigious honours from renowned Vietnamese and international organisations such as ‘Mid-sized Domestic Retail Bank of the Year’ award from Asian Banking & Finance, the only bank in Viet Nam to have a place in the ‘Best Companies To Work For in Asia’ list compiled by HR Asia for three consecutive years, and most recently the Vietnam - ASEAN Outstanding Enterprise award in 2020.
Recently HDBank successfully issued convertible bonds to demanding financial institutions such as the development finance institution owned by German state-owned development bank KWF. — VNS
