Vietnam Airlines (VNA) conducted two special flights carrying about 600 passengers from Viet Nam to Frankfurt, Germany, repatriating German and EU citizens on Monday and Wednesday.

The flights were approved by the Vietnamese Government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs amid the COVID-19 pandemic. They are sponsored by the German Government and implemented by the German Foreign Ministry in cooperation with Vietnam Airlines.

Vietnam Airlines said the flight on Wednesday is combined with aid from the Vietnamese Government and people to the governments and people of Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the UK to support the prevention of COVID-19.

Vietnam Airlines said the reception and service of passengers and goods strictly complied with the regulations on disease prevention.

On the way back from Germany to Viet Nam, the flights carried just cargo. The aircraft were cleaned, and the entire passenger cabin, cockpit and cargo storage area were disinfected right after landing.

Vietnam Airlines said the flights have special significance for German and European passengers who are stuck in Viet Nam as regular flights from Viet Nam to international destinations have been suspended.

Vietnam Airlines recently transported medical equipment donated by the Vietnamese Government and people to Laos and Cambodia. — VNS
