Bắc Ninh, Schneider Electric launch green education initiative for vocational schools
The project focuses on three key components: teacher and student training, practical learning activities and the development of a professional learning community.

BẮC NINH — Kenan Foundation Asia and the Department of Education and Training of the northern province of Bắc Ninh have officially launched the 'Schneider ePBL Conserve My Planet' project, aiming to enhance environmental awareness and promote sustainable energy education in vocational institutions.
Funded by the Schneider Electric Foundation and Schneider Electric Vietnam, the initiative is adapted from the global 'Conserve My Planet' programme and will run from May this year to December 2026.
The project focuses on three key components: teacher and student training, practical learning activities and the development of a professional learning community (PLC).
Over two years, it will provide comprehensive training to 110 teachers and 10,560 students across vocational colleges and secondary schools in Bắc Ninh and Hà Nội. In the first year alone, 50 teachers and 6,200 students in Bắc Ninh will benefit from the programme.
Participants will receive training on energy efficiency, renewable energy, electronic waste management and sustainable practices through the 3R model - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The programme also encourages integrating environmental content into teaching methodologies using project-based learning (PBL).
A variety of interactive and experiential learning activities are planned, including practical workshops and a Green Energy Camping Day. These activities are designed to help students apply their knowledge to real-world environmental issues and explore innovative green solutions.
Another key element of the programme is the establishment of a PLC, which will provide a platform for teachers and experts to share knowledge and best practices in sustainability education. This community will help foster continuous professional development and strengthen the implementation of environmental education across Southeast Asia.
“This marks a significant milestone as Kenan Foundation Asia collaborates with Schneider Electric, Schneider Electric Foundation, and Bắc Ninh’s Department of Education and Training,” said Richard Bernard, Executive Director of Kenan Foundation Asia.
“By integrating renewable energy and sustainability into vocational education, we’re helping equip the next generation with the tools to lead Việt Nam’s green and digital transitions.”
The Deputy Director of the Bắc Ninh Department of Education and Training, Đoàn Xuân Thành, highlighted the importance of preparing students for future environmental challenges.
“We are committed to integrating sustainability into our training programmes and ensuring that environmental protection is part of our educational strategy,” he said. — VNS
