National carrier Vietnam Airlines crossed the milestone of 8,000 safe flights on Airbus A350-900 XWB this week, marking the occasion by welcoming the eighth A350 aircraft to its fleet.

The airlines transported over 2.2 million passengers safely on these aircraft. “This is a special occasion marking more than 8,000 safe flights of Vietnam Airlines with eight of its Airbus A350 aircraft. We hope many more passengers complete journeys and have memorable experiences on the most modern aircraft in the world,” said one of the aircraft captains. Vietnam Airlines’ A350s are currently operated by around 100 Vietnamese pilots.

To welcome the new aircraft and to mark the milestone, many activities were organised. Passengers were allowed to take photos with an A350 simulator model with unique handset icons, eat A350-shaped cake and desserts on board, and received interesting gifts.

Passengers have the opportunity to experience the four- and five-star service as per standards set by the prestigious International Air Organisation Skytrax on the Paris (France), Haneda and Osaka (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), Shanghai (China) routes, as well as the domestic route between Ha Noi and HCM City.

The aircraft has spacious seating, making for a very comfortable experience for A350 fliers. In particular, the business class has a 180-degree flat-bed recliner that passengers can enjoy, especially during long-haul flights.

Vietnam Airlines got the first of its A350 aircraft in Toulouse, France, on June 30, 2015, becoming the first airline in the Asia-Pacific region and the second airline in the world to own this modern aircraft. — VNS
