Vietjet on Tuesday announced the opening of a new international route connecting HCM City with Indonesia’s capital Jakarta.

The new route will operate daily from December 20. The HCM City-Jakarta flight departs from HCM City at 8.40pm and arrives in Jakarta at 11.40pm (local time). The return flight takes off at 1.40am (local time) and lands in HCM City at 4.40am.

“Since its inception, Vietjet has been developing friendly and professional flight services on key international routes, helping connect Viet Nam’s main business and tourism hubs with foreign destinations, including Jakarta,” Dinh Viet Phuong, Vietjet’s vice president said at the announcement ceremony in Jakarta.

The route will boost ties between these two economic, cultural and financial hubs, thus boosting regional integration, Phuong said.

Jakarta is famous for its multiculturalism, cuisine and colourful tourism. HCM City will help visitors from Indonesia travel in Viet Nam, which also boasts UNESCO-listed world heritages and incredible beaches, Vietjet said. — VNS
