HCM CITY (Biz Hub) — Vietjet has been honored by the HCM City People's Committee for helping increase the number of tourists visiting the city in 2015.

In recent years, the airline has co-operated with the HCM City Tourism Association to offer 20 to 90 per cent discounts on fares for inbound tours on all of its routes.

Of note, last year it sold nearly 500,000 tickets, equivalent to 5 per cent of its transportation capacity, to travel agencies.

The carrier said it would continue to co-ordinate with the association this year to develop inbound and outbound tourism, in an attempt to create more travelling opportunities for local people.

The airline operates a fleet of 30 aircraft, including A320s and A321s, and schedules 190 flights each day. It has also opened 41 routes in Viet Nam and across the region to international destinations, such as Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, mainland China and Myanmar.

To date, Vietjet has carried nearly 20 million passengers. —VNS
