Universal Robots (UR), the Denmark-based collaborative robots (cobots) manufacturer, is showcasing innovative automation solutions at the 15th edition of Propak Vietnam 2022.

At Propak Vietnam 2022, the largest international trade event for the processing and packaging industries in Indochina, UR will be demonstrating the game-changing UR5e and UR10 cobots, which are adaptable for a wide range of tasks, and safe for working alongside human workers to achieve higher productivity.

Visitors can witness live demonstrations of UR5e and UR10 cobots in operation at booth FP18 at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Centre in HCM City from November 9 to 11.

At the event, UR will be also debuting their recently launched UR20, the next-generation UR cobot with a reach of 1,750 mm and an unprecedented 20 kg payload.

All UR cobots utilise a patented technology which allows operators with no programming experience to quickly set up and operate cobots with intuitive, 3D visualisation. Users simply move the robot arm to desired waypoints, or touch the arrow keys on an easy-to-use touchscreen tablet to set up a wide range of applications for varied industries, company sizes, and product natures.

"Automation with collaborative robots is more than just the deployment of robots for increased productivity and efficiency. It opens up new opportunities to businesses in Viet Nam, enables faster payback and further embraces the changing trends in the processing and packaging industry," said Nguyen Anh Tuan, Vietnam Country Manager, Universal Robots.

Eighty percent of the thousands of UR cobots worldwide operate with no safety guarding (after risk assessment) right beside human operators. The UR patented technology limits the use of the robotic arm when it comes into contact with a person. UR cobots can also be programmed to operate at a reduced speed mode when a human enters the robot’s work area, and resume full speed when the person leaves. The safety system of UR cobots is approved and certified by TÜV (The German Technical Inspection Association).

The packaging industry is one of the fastest growing markets in Viet Nam. The paper packaging market in Viet Nam alone was valued at US$2.06 billion in 2021, and is projected to reach $3.11 billion by 2027, according to Mordor Intelligence. — VNS
