Saigon Co.op is offering sharp discounts on environmentally friendly products and organising activities to encourage customers to use green and energy-efficient products at its retail systems nationwide, including Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, Co.op Smiles and Cheers.

The activities are part of its "Green Consumption" programme which ends on June 12.

The programme aims to raise awareness about environmental protection among residents and the business community across the country and at the same time boost consumption of green products.

Under the programme, the retailer has slashed prices by up to 40 per cent on over 10,000 environmentally-friendly products, and is offering discounts of over 50 per cent when customers buy a second item of the same product under its “Buy More, Get Great Incentive” programme.

It is also giving tens of thousands of vouchers to member customers who buy green products as well as huge reward points to customers who use environmental bags for shopping.

In addition, customers will receive a second item of the same product for free when they buy certain kinds of products on Mondays under the supermarket’s "Green Monday" programme.

Notably, Saigon Co.op will be the first consumer goods retailer in the country to organise the “No Plastic Bag Day” at all of its more than 750 stores on June 10. Its stores will not use plastic bags but will instead encourage customers to use paper bags or environmentally friendly bags when shopping.

Do Quoc Huy, Saigon Co.op’s marketing director, said the 10th "Green Consumption" programme is part of a series of programmes to celebrate Saigon Co.op’s 30th anniversary

In addition to offering attractive discounts on environmentally friendly products, Saigon Co.op’s supermarket chains have also set up green payment counters that are a priority for customers buying environment-friendly products to make payments. — VNS
