The Binh Dinh Economic Zone Management Board on Wednesday granted ‘Green Enterprise’ certificate to 106 firms in the area.

The enterprises were selected from 184 firms operating in industrial parks and economic zones in the province eligible for the honour.

The evaluation criteria focus on environmental protection, including wastewater, exhaust gas and air.

As a result of the selection, 17 enterprises were rated excellent with ‘green’ ranking in environmental protection, 28 enterprises have performed environmental protection activities well and were rated ‘blue’ and 61 enterprises met requirements of environmental protection.

According to the Management Board of Binh Dinh Economic Zone, after five years, the programme has improved the enterprises' responsibility for implementing environmental protection.

The number of enterprises meeting the requirements of environmental protection has increased annually, while collection and treatment of industrial solid waste have gradually improved as well. — VNS
