Run for the Heart 2016 will be held December 3 at LePARC by Gamuda in Yen So park in Hoang Mai District.

This is the fourth time Gamuda Land has cooperated with Heart Beat Vietnam to organize this run, and the second time it is being held in Ha Noi.

Starting in 2013, the Gamuda charity race “Run for the Heart”, an annual charity event jointly organized by Gamuda Land and Heart Beat Vietnam, has attracted thousands of participants and received support and contributions from hundreds of sponsors. Total funds raised from the first three runs reached some VND4.7 billion. Using this money, 219 children with congenital heart defects have been able to undergone heart operations.

In 2015, “Run for the Heart” was organized for the first time in Ha Noi and attracted more than 5,000 participants, raising more than VND1 billion, resulting in medical treatments for 48 children with serve heart conditions in Viet Nam, including treatment for 18 children below the age of 1, 19 below the age of 6, seven children under 10 years old and four children more than 10 years old.

With the goal of bringing care to more children with congenial heart defects, Run for the Heart 2016 also raises people’s awareness about the importance of physical activities to reduce the risk of heart disease, while helping children born with heart disease.

This year, the race held on Nov 6 in HCM City attracted nearly 15,000 participants. Total total funds raised during the race reached VND3.2 billion, allowing 119 heart operations to be performed on children with heart defects. To date, the programme has raised more than VND7 billion, paying for 338 children to receive heart operations. — VNS
