Panasonic Vietnam has donated books on science and environment and educational tools for online learning to 15 schools in Dong Anh District of Ha Noi, and Hung Yen and Binh Duong provinces.

The donation was part of a series of activities that Panasonic Vietnam initiated in early 2021 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its official presence in Viet Nam (1971-2021).

Panasonic always focuses on education and the environment, key factors for wellness and sustainable development.

Marukawa Yoichi, General Director of Panasonic Vietnam, said that the donation programme aimed to show the appreciation of Panasonic to local provinces where Panasonic has its manufacturing bases.

"Panasonic, since its establishment over 100 years ago, always thinks human resources is our core competence and highest assets. And that's why we continuously invested in HR development," said Yoichi.

"However, we understand that students, who are the future assets for Viet Nam's sustainable development, had difficulties during the pandemic, especially in 2021. Despite our challenges in terms of business operation, upon judging this serious impact, Panasonic decided to help those students accelerate online learning under various regulations to keep on learning and support teachers to educate the importance of environmental protection."

Nguyen Thi Tam, Vice Chairman of Dong Anh People's Committee, said: "In the current pandemic situation, Panasonic's donation will help us better equip students in online learning and have better IT conditions for STEM programmes following the Ministry of Education and Training guidance.

"In addition, the donated books will support students in learning about environmental science to contribute more to the sustainable development of Dong Anh District and Viet Nam."

In 2021, to celebrate its 50th anniversary in Viet Nam, Panasonic has conducted many activities in health, education and environmental fields such as donation of 261 air conditioners to three major hospitals in Ha Noi, planting 110,000 forest trees in Tuyen Quang Province and granting scholarships to excellent students at universities across the country. — VNS
