Some 35,000 students and teachers in Ba Tri District in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Ben Tre are benefiting from a programme called Bringing Fresh Water to Schools.

Under the programme, 74 water-filter systems have been installed and 273 rainwater tanks handed over to 75 schools in Ba Tri District in the province.

Ba Tri is one of several areas in Ben Tre affected by climate change, which has caused shortages of clean water.

As much as VND5 billion (US$215,000) has been contributed to the programme by enterprises. Of that amount, real-estate developer Novaland has contributed VND2 billion ($86,100).

Begun in 2018, the programme has raised VND18 billion (4775,000) to set up filter systems and has supported nearly 100,000 students and teachers in 203 schools.

In addition to the programme, Novaland has organised many programmes recently to support students living in difficulties before the school year begins.

One of the programmes presented VND1 billion to children in Binh Thuan Province, while 200 bikes were handed over to local students.

This is the third consecutive year that the company has taken part in this programme in Binh Thuan Province.

As many as 200 students in Ben Tre have also received scholarships from Novaland.

Novaland is a giant real-estate developer with around 40 housing projects in HCM City and hospitality projects in other provinces.

Along with project development, the company also pays attention to disadvantaged people. — VNS
