HA NOI (Biz Hub) — Viet Nam's Maison 1888 restaurant was named among the world's top 10 new restaurants by CNN on January 19.

The channel's columnist Chris Dwyer, who is a food expert in Hong Kong, said restaurant fans around the world had plenty to "make their mouth water" this year, with new restaurants emerging at an astonishing rate with diverse menus.

CNN appreciated the sensational flavours in the local cuisine and saw a growing international fine-dining scene in Viet Nam. It saw Maison 1888 as the leader in both categories.

Sungroup's InterContinental Danang Peninsula Resort's Maison 1888 restaurant, first established by a French chef, was taken over by another French chef Pierre Gagnaire in 2015.

Situated on Monkey Mountain, the restaurant serves classic French cuisine with contemporary flair that integrates global and local ingredients, such as poached Brittany oysters with banana blossom.

The other restaurants on the CNN list are Osteria Oggi in Adelaide, Australia; Hide Yamamoto in Macau; Coya in Dubai; and Frenchie in London; besides Made Nice in New York; Urban Grill in Accra, Ghana; El Informal in Barcelona; and Cozinha Artagao in Rio de Janeiro; as well as Le Bon Saint Pourcain in Paris. — VNS
