HCM CITY (Biz Hub) – Wholesaler Metro Cash & Carry Viet Nam has said that it will offer more made-in-Viet Nam products by working more closely with its suppliers.

Metro and its Vietnamese suppliers have organised a "Commodity Fair" at the chain's 19 supermarkets nationwide from the beginning of this week to December 12 for its wholesale customers.

During the two-week fair, customers will be able to purchase a wide variety of products at the one-stop shop.

Domestic suppliers such as Ba Huan, Vinh Thanh Dat, Hung Thuy, Duc Nghia and Binh Minh will be selling their goods at the fair to wholesale customers such as canteens, restaurants, hotels, plants and offices.

According to the wholesaler, prices will be cut by 10 per cent.

Nguyen Vu Thuan from Metro Cash and Carry Viet Nam said the year-end and the Lunar New Year holiday were the biggest shopping seasons.

Changing selling methods to stimulate purchasing power was needed, he said, adding that the fair would also help to improve relations between suppliers and distributors.

Thuan also said that Metro this year would focus on promoting Vietnamese products.

Doan Thi Thuy Van, head of a canteen in a HCM City hospital, said that higher petrol prices had put pressure on the hospital's budget.

At the same time, the hospital canteen cannot raise prices, he added. So, support from suppliers is necessary.

Metro said that after the fair they would organise a programme to serve customers during the Lunar New Year holiday. — VNS
