HCM CITY (Biz Hub) – Fresh raw milk purchases reached 82,000 tonnes this year, an increase of 7 per cent compared to this year's target and an increase of 18.5 per cent over last year, according to FrieslandCampina Viet Nam.

The company purchased from more than 4,000 local farmers nationwide, it reported in a meeting held on last week to review activities of the year.

The commitment to quality and food safety between farmers and the company has shown positive results, as the contamination index was about 300,000 cfu/ml, three times lower than the allowed standard, the company said.

In addition, FrieslandCampina sends payment notices via SMS to farmers who supply fresh milk. It uses Vinaphone, MobiFone, Viettel, Beeline and Vietnamobil networks.

Farmers receive the notice every fortnight with details about the volume of milk they supply as well as information about bonuses and money.

The SMS notices that replace the payment notice letter are a part of the "automation milk purchasing system" used at 50 milk-collecting stations.

The convenience, speed, and transparency in dairy procurement encourages farmers to improve quality and ensure the highest level of hygiene and food safety for raw milk.—VNS
