HCM CITY (Biz Hub) – IBM on Thursday announced that Phu Hung Life Insurance, a newly licensed company, has selected IBM technology and services to build strong, sustainable information and technology (IT) infrastructure.

The co-operation will support Phu Hung Life's business and enable the company to launch its products and services in Viet Nam early next year.

This first joint-stock insurer in Viet Nam officially entered the domestic life insurance market in September. The move to use IBM services is seen as a key enabler of its strategy to meet its distributor and customer needs in Viet Nam.

The infrastructure consists of IBM server systems (System x and Power system 720+ running on IBM i Operating System) to support the insurer's core business applications and IBM's Tivoli Storage Manager.

Crispin Bui, sales executive for IBM ASEAN and the HCM City branch manager, said: "Forward-thinking insurers like Phu Hung Life are relying on innovative technology solutions to enable them to operate more efficiently and provide reliable services to their clients that will result in sustainable revenue. This new agreement reinforces the quality and strength of our capability and the global expertise that IBM can offer to Vietnamese businesses." — VNS
