Charity programme mobilised from 12,000 sponsors

The Cap la yeu thuong (A Beloved Couple of Leaves) charity volunteer programme has mobilised VND52 billion (US$216,000) from more than 12,000 sponsors nationwide in the past five years.

The information was released at a gala celebrating the launch of the programme held by the Ministry of Labour, Invalid and Social Affairs, VTV Digital and Viet Nam Bank for Social Policies held in Ha Noi on Sunday.

The programme has involved 3,600 sponsors who have not only provided cash and scholarships but also built houses and schools and provided studying equipment to students in difficult situations.

Notably, many children in difficult situations have enrolled in universities or college thank to the support.

Speaking at the gala, Le Quang Minh, director of VTV Digital said: “We have followed the style of a reality TV show to bring the most realistic images of the characters' daily lives to audiences”.

Cap la yeu thuong is an outstanding volunteer programme of VTV, voted by the Vietnam Record organisation as one of the most popular community programmes.

The programme supports all people with difficulties, however, in the framework of the reportage on TV, the program prioritises poor students and students with disabilities.

Each person aided is provided with a minimum of VND200,000 per month the sponsors.

The programme won the “Attractive Cultural, Social, Scientific and Education Programme” award Viet Nam Television. — VNS
